[Whips around to face her as well, eyes wide]

[Blue. . . just like Ferril. That makes things a little easier]

How have you been? I saw Coco earlier, she told me you're her teammate here... I'm with Ferril.

[Yes please, hugs are great. Clinging a little tightly]

I've been-- well, I was doing pretty okay until I got here. . . but anyway! How long as it been? I haven't seen you or Swift since you guys were. . .

[In the Bigger Picture]

...In the Bigger Picture? [shakes her head] We never knew we were there. When we left the Library, we arrived at a place called Court, and we were trying to climb in rank so we could get everyone out too... As far as I know, it's been months since the last time I saw you. Three months, maybe?

. . . that's about how long it's been for me, too.

But from what I understand, the library is gone now.

I heard that from Coco, too. But... Ferril said you two left that place together. How does she know that the Library is gone, if you don't?... Did she go back?

[He shakes his head]

No. We left-- were forced out, practically-- but Macaron stayed until the very end.

We were able to meet up with her again and get the story from her.

Macaron... Ah. I heard she's here too.

[hesitation, then] Can... Can she be trusted? I only got to speak with her after we... mm... She was very supportive, but I never knew if that was because of Coco and our relationship with Teal, or because she really was like that. And now she is on a different team, so I don't know what to expect from her.

. . . [he nods]

I think-- I think we can trust her. I don't think she's naturally that kind of person, but Coco and Teal-- and Iris, in a lot of ways-- changed her a lot.

I don't think she'd want to. . . y'know. Hurt us, no matter what teams we were on. [Takes in a deep breath and lets it out slowly, raking a hand through his hair as he does so]

She told me that if there was a game, she wouldn't want to play at all. I believe her. . . I really do. So it wouldn't be her I'd worry about, but the other members of her team here.

[your hesitation doesn't go unnoticed]

I'm more worried about Swift's team than any of ours. But... we'll see. Maybe it won't be as bad as I fear.

And anyway... I'm glad to see you again, Kit. I'm sorry I left when I did. I can't help but think it happened because I wasn't strong enough.

[His smile is a bit lopsided, but genuine]

. . . I'm glad to see you, too. I wish circumstances were better, but it doesn't hurt to focus on something good for a change, yeah?

That's true. For example, we could focus on you and Coco... Right?

And Ferril, and Rena, and Fox, and Swift--

Yes, because... it can be inconvenient. But at least... we're not usually in danger. Once you know the people to avoid, you can lead a peaceful life there.

. . . so not perfect.

But a little peace, no matter where you get it, is what you deserve.

Mm. I don't know if we deserve it, but I try to protect it. And... I'll try to do that here, too.
