Our captors want the Students to play a game that involves directing different punishments at each other. The Instructors, I believe, are meant to carry those punishments out.

I see...

Most of the people here are civilians. Some of them have never even heard of titans.

Perhaps the punishments will be benign.

We already had to play one round. The most benign choice we were given was stealing all first aid supplies. The others involved things like removal of limbs or eyes.

Stealing is hardly anything.

Not all of us have titan healing powers, Annie. If a team loses their first aid supplies and gets a more severe punishment, people might very well die.

People die all the time Armin. Civilians and monsters alike.

Not like this. Not for some ridiculous game.

And what? People don't die for even more ridiculous things?

...So you're fine with hurting people just because someone who kidnapped you tells you to?
