[The bells for round two ring bright and early this morning, at around 9am. Once again, you feel the compulsion to head to the auditorium, and once again, the reluctant will find their feet carrying them there despite their wishes to the contrary.]

[ staring at the stage with the expression of someone who is both familiar with this sight and still deeply distressed by it.

if anyone comes close enough, they might hear her murmuring "Please revive please revive" frantically under her breath ]

[Henry looks just as smiley in front of these corpses as he did in front of the pond. Her chant seems to have caught his attention, however.]

...Where I'm from, people who die in a game like this revive unless something interferes with it.

Oh, good! Keeps the victim pool open, ha ha.

Well, if you want to keep something like this going for any period of time, you can't just let people die for real. Because then, sooner or later, everyone would be dead and you'd have nothing to do!

It's still dying for real. [ said sharply ] Being revived doesn't make it not real.

Oh, uh-huh! It doesn't make the mauling any less bloody, of course. But if necromancy makes you wake up the next morning, then functionally, it's as if you haven't died at all.

[ just. shakes her head ]

Physically, sure. But they'll remember it and know it happened.

[ ..Henry is very very lucky she isn't willing to try to punch anyone in the face at a time like this.

Where I used to be, dying would have been a gift. Still don't know how I survived, but I'm pretty sure a normal person woulda died at least three times in there.

[ breathes slowly to try and keep calm ]

Being hurt like that is awful, but dying... It's not the same thing as being hurt. You know when you're dying, you feel it and it's... it's...

[ how do you put into words that dying fucking sucks when you've done it repeatedly, we just don't know ]

[Henry stays silent, waiting for her to continue. Please tell him what dying feels like. He's curious.]

I'm trying.

Focus on something else.
