Then why not send someone else and have them report back to him? It would raise less suspicion and additionally would not have the possible chance of things backfiring via a sudden and violent response.

I already told you I wouldn't kill Armin, and I won't start a fight with him unless he starts one with me first. But if he does start a fight I will break both his arms.

I doubt seriously you could say anything about who you were which would get you 'kicked off the team,' as it were.

I, for one, care far more about who you are now.

I'm doing my best to keep up with things, and I don't want to make this harder for us... but I might be hurting us without meaning to.

For what it is worth, I have already had to answer for the actions of a far less personable self from another dimension.

Precisely as it sounds. Apparently there is another me who is nowhere near as congenial as I am.

Look, if Armin asks you about Titans just know that he's trying to turn you against me.

That is the second time today they have been mentioned.

What, precisely, is a Titan?

It's hard to explain if you've never seen one. And you would know, they're huge and they wreck up everything they come in contact with.

You are one of them, then.

Armin asked me if i knew anything of them. Naturally, I did not--thus I left it there. However, then you mentioned what they were and stated that if they were mentioned, he would be trying to turn us against you. The question, however, is why would the mere mention of such a thing mean this?

The only way mentioning them would cause this is if you were somehow connected to them.

Titans are the enemy, Armin and I spent years learning how to fight and kill them. But he thinks I was helping them.

And why would he believe that?

He's paranoid and weak. He would rather blame others than take some responsibility for himself.

An exquisite answer, but I was rather looking for an explanation of what transpired to make him need to seek to blame others.

Things where we're from are pretty bad. He has come close to being killed by a Titan multiple times. I even saved him from one once.
