[ okay. usually he's really not enthusiastic about school. BUT he's so hungry. and if this is a school, it has to have a cafeteria. food has to be somewhere.

so he practically races to the cafeteria, not exactly concerned about the grimy atmosphere. he is hungry as hell, racing to the food packages. kanata rips them open, smiling ear to ear. HE NEEDS FOOD DAMN IT.

but. this is a disappointment. ]

Are you kidding? Do you know what food is? Where's the egg? The rice, the meat?

[ well, there is some meat. ham, jerky. but that doesn't really amount to what he wants. but he's quickly coveting a beef jerky bag ] This barely counts. I'm eatin' it 'cause I got no other choice!

That's a lot more meat than I'm used to seeing in a meal.

[ he is really beginning to question where a kid has to come from to not go to school (a big positive) and have very little food (a big big negative). the real answer is a lot of places but he's too unworldly for that. ]

Then maybe you'll be okay with some soup and a sandwich. But this is like one whole meal to me.

[meanwhile Armin is starting to question just how well-off people outside the walls are. it makes sense that they wouldn't suffer from starvation, but this guy makes it sound like he's never had to work for his food.]

Why can't I just do both? I mean, ain't this ridiculous that his is all we get? Is this supposed to feed six people?

I suppose you can, but unless you decide to eat your team, you'll just have to wait and see what happens. I know no more than you do.

It's possible to go without food for four to eight weeks as long as we have water, so you can survive on an apple.

It may not be worth living, but it can be done.

This is some real messed up school. Don't they know kids and people eat beef? And burgers and fried rice and octopus sausages? Not just...an apple!

If someone's gonna take me some place where I don't know where the hell I am, at least give me a feast!
